Open Studio

19th-20th August

I’m very much looking forward to hosting my OPEN STUDIO on the 19th & 20th August! They’ll be new works, previous paintings and limited edition prints available for purchasing. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see my artwork up close as well.

The field behind my studio will also be full of lovely sunflowers! The field will be open that weekend for a pick your own sunflower event, alongside the wheatsheaf farm coffee shop.

It would be so lovely to say hello, so come along, view some lovely artwork, pick some sunflowers & have a lovely coffee!

My studio is just outside a little town called Great Dunmow in North Essex, just off the M11 and 3 miles from Stansted Airport. If the Thursday/Friday works better, please just let me know and I’ll make sure the studio doors are open and I’m there.

Framed and ready for its new home

Last week I hand delivered a commission I’ve been working on for a lovely couple in Nottinghamshire. They commissioned me to create a piece of artwork for above their fireplace. We had an initial consultation where I took photographs, discussed ideas and then I emailed across a few options to discuss. They went for the wildcard, a long landscape shaped piece on board, to hang above the fireplace.

We framed it in a beautiful deep inky blue grey frame and I think it really makes the artwork sing!

I’m waiting to get some photographs of the piece in situ as the lovely collectors have now decided to install lighting around the artwork to really make sure the viewer sees every beautiful mark and detail!

Colour of the month

Colour inspiration

This month we re-painted our study and after a couple of months trying to get a tone that was JUST right, I finally mixed the perfect tone!

I wanted a soft olive green that felt warm in tone. I also wanted the tone to be slightly lighter than your average olive, but with enough depth to make the room feel cosy. After the many testers weren’t quite hitting the spot, I decided to mix my own colour, and because I know how the light in the room changes I knew what tones I needed to add to ensure the tone was perfect.

We finally have the DREAMIEST colour walls!

I think the whole concept for this colour came about from the wheat fields that fill the countryside at the moment. It had such an influence on my palette. A soft yellowy green with a touch of black was the tone I wanted! If anyone wants me to come and mix the perfect tone for your room, get in touch (wink wink!)
